Why This Site Exists
Santa Monica does not have one master people-records office. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk holds deeds, liens, marriage records, vital-record copies, and voter information. The Los Angeles County Assessor maintains parcel records, while the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles runs the court index. California agencies handle statewide licenses, business entities, and vital records. Santa Monica's City Clerk, permit archive, business directory, and library cover the local layer. We organize those distinct search tools, office contacts, and limits in one place.
Resources Collected Here
- Record-type pages: public records, voter registration records, and people directories
- Named custodians: the RR/CC, Assessor, Superior Court, City Clerk, elections office, and vital-record offices
- Practical search steps: using a court name index, tracing an address, and consulting Santa Monica's historical directory collections
- Access boundaries: what California law opens, which details remain protected, and when a formal records request is needed
Limits of Our Role
This is a privately operated reference site. We are not connected with the City of Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, the State of California, any court, or any records custodian. Those boundaries mean:
- We do not retrieve, certify, amend, or delete records for users
- We cannot verify whether a named person lives in Santa Monica
- We have no control over government files or outside databases
- We do not provide legal advice about a record or its effect
- We cannot promise that every portal, fee, or office procedure remains current
A record can be confirmed, certified, or corrected only by its custodian. Information found here cannot be used for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or other FCRA-regulated decisions.
